January 2007 Washington Wine Club
2004 Walla Walla Vintners Sagemoor Vineyard Cabernet
Sauvignon
Walla Walla Vintners has always been one of the most solid and
reliable vintners in Washington. So, when we had a chance to grab this single
vineyard bottling, a collaboration of winemakers Myles Anderson and Gordy Venneri
with one of the oldest vineyards in the state, we grabbed it. This powerful and
intense wine contains 78% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet
Franc. Dark in color, layered with jammy fruit flavors, with a focused finish,
it can be enjoyed over the next ten years. Try it with rack of lamb or anything
cooked in a Dijon mustard sauce. It´s $39.75, and alas no more is available.
2004 Beresan Stone River Blend
Hooray! For the first time, we were able to acquire enough
of this highly sought after blend to put it in this club. Due to the freeze in
January, 2004, winemaker Thomas Glase was forced to supplement owner Tom Walliser´s
Walla Walla Valley Estate fruit with an equal amount of grapes from the Columbia
Valley. The blend this year shows gorgeous bright cherry and raspberry flavors and
will go well with everything from steak to barbecue. It´s ready to drink now,
and we have a few more bottles available at $35.00.
