December 2005 Specialty Club
2002 Abeja Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine is a powerhouse, one of the most beautiful Washington State
Cabernet Sauvignons produced. I´ve been fortunate enough to follow this wine
through several tastings at different stages in its development, a process that is by no
means finished. Meaning I´d really, really recommend delaying gratification on
this one for about five years! Winemaker John Abbott first came to our attention as
the winemaker for Canoe Ridge, making some very remarkable wines for many years.
This winery is his, and if anything, the quality has gone up. I recently also tried his
Chardonnay, to be released in March. Please get it when it´s released.
Should you like more of this, there´s a limited amount available at $75.00 - but
I´d act quickly!
2004 Rulo Viognier
What do you know - a Washington Wine Club in the Specialty Club!
I have been a strong fan of winemaker Kurt Schlicker´s product since his first
vintage. This is another wine that I´ve followed since it was first harvested -
as I have for the last few vintages. It´s dry, crisp, and aromatic - exactly what
a world-class Viognier should be. There´s a goodly amount left at $19.75.
