October 2005 Specialty Club

2003 Branson Coach House Barossa Valley Shiraz
Let´s start with the descriptors for this wine: Powerful.  Dark.  Should you be so inclined to call it so, brooding.  This comes from the producers of the Two Hands Shiraz, featured recently in this club, and it is garnering rave reviews everywhere it goes.   I´m seeing it on the web for as much as $100 or more-on sale!-and we have for your enjoyment at $79.75.  I´d wait a bit before cracking this one open.  750 cases were made, and it´s all gone, hopefully to those who´ll enjoy it as much as the members of this club!

2004 Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy Sancerre Terre de Maimbray Rosé
I know it´s just edging past the supposed rosé season; however, I just couldn´t pass this incredible wine up.  The 2004 vintage in Sancerre (and most of the Loire Valley) seems to be outstanding, at least from what I´ve tried so far.  Rosé Sancerre is made from Pinot Noir, so what you have here is a delicate, nuanced wine that´ll change your opinion of rosé forever.  It´s gone, and it was $19.75.  I´d have this for Thanksgiving - rosé works about as well as any wine with turkey or ham, and the acidity on this one will cut through the meat´s fattier components.
