July 2005 Specialty Club
2002 Justin Isosceles
Yum. We tried this at the shop´s tasting on June 30th; to say that it was well-liked
would be a vast understatement. It´s a beautiful, full-bodied wine that´s all
ready to drink (although it will hold for a few more years without difficulty). It´s
pretty much the pride of Paso Robles. I put the 2001 version in last year´s club; I
couldn´t resist the idea of building a vertical! It´s $53.00, and there´s a
bit left.
2002 Georg Breuer Nonnenberg Riesling
This wine comes from a producer I regard as the best in the Rheingau, and from a vineyard that he
owns completely. It´s an incredibly powerful example of what Riesling can attain.
I´ll say it´ll age for 20 years; the reality is I´ve not had a well-made Riesling
go off in my cellar, although part of that is my tendency to not let them get that old anyway!
It´s $42.00, and there´s a small amount left.
